This is so true! Plot didn't click for me until I understood it's all about the characters. It's just like how we get bored during superhero fight scenes if they aren't personal to the character somehow.

As someone who has been instinctively writing character-driven stories for years, I agree with this! The plot shouldn't always be something that happens TO the characters; the character's actions should move the plot forward, too. And I believe character's should drive the plot more often than not. A headstrong character, for example, would probably move the plot along in a different direction than an insecure character.

I go through 2 to 3 drafts scoping out plot before figuring out how the characters work in it so I feel this post lol.
